CISF detains 2 persons with gold worth Rs 55L

In yet another incident of gold smuggling at Delhi airport, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Thursday detained two persons who were carrying gold worth Rs 55 lakh from their possession.

The accused were identified as Ziaul Haq, Ibrahim Sahib who arrived at the airport from Chennai flight on Thursday. The CISF personnel deployed at main entry of Terminal-1, noticed that the accused was roaming suspiciously near the main entry. He immediately traced them and inquired the matter. After checking their baggage thoroughly, two gold bars (weighing about 2 kgs) wrapped in black tape were recovered from their handbag.

The CISF official handed them over to Delhi Police along with the recovered gold for further action. Later, they were handed over to Customs Preventive Unit.

Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, CISF head constable Jaswant Rajput, who was deployed at Saket metro station, found an unattended bag that was already screened.

Later, the bag was opened in presence of Station Controller of DMRC. On checking, an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh was found. The bag was handed over to the Station Controller by the CISF personnel.

After few hours, a person named Ghanshyam, came to the metro station and said that he had forgotten to collect his bag in the morning from the output roller of X-BIS (X-ray Baggage Inspection System) and his bag contained Rs 2.5 lakh. He said he had come to Delhi to take loan from his relative for purchase of a tractor. After reaching Bhiwadi, he realised that he had left his bag at the metro station and came back for it. He was taken to the Station Controller and after proper verification the bag was handed over to him.
