CISF celebrates 44th annual day with pomp, splendour

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) celebrated its 44th CISF Day in a grand manner at 5th Reserve Battalion campus, at Indirapuram in Ghaziabad. The Ceremonial Parade was reviewed by Minister for External Affairs, Government of India, Salman Khurshid. It was the first time that ‘CISF Colour’ was carried by women contingent. Two companies of women personnel participated in the parade.

Rajiv, director general of  CISF, said,  ‘From a humble beginning of 3,000 personnel, the force has grown in both numbers and stature during the last 44 years. Presently CISF has a sanctioned strength of more than 1,34,000 personnel and it provides security and protection to 307 installations of national importance.’

Khurshid released a coffee table book depicting the journey of CISF in the last 44 years. Khurshid conveyed congratulated the parade commander and the medal recipients. He also made a special mention of the women officers and contingent and expressed happiness that CISF has been promoting 2013 as the year for ‘security and safety of the women’.
