Church secretary counters claim of 16 December rape accused

A Church secretary, who deposed before a special court here on Friday, refuted the claim of a 16 December gang rape case accused that he was in a music event organised by it on the night of the incident.
The prosecution brought as a witness, the brother of a Church, who is also its secretary, to counter the claim of Vinay Sharma who had in his statement said he was not in the bus in which the 23-year-old girl was gangraped.
Vinay had claimed that on 16 December, he had gone to a music event organised by the church in the DDA district park at Hauz Khas and co-accused Pawan Gupta was also present there. ‘It is wrong to suggest that our Church had organised any programme on 16 December, 2012 in DDA district park at Hauz Khas or that I am deposing falsely. We are Protestants and our Church does not celebrate Christmas.’
