Chit fund: CBI raids 19 places in Bengal, Odisha

Stepping up its probe into the multi-crore chit fund scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday conducted raids 19 places in Odisha and West Bengal. The raids were carried out at the residences and offices of chit fund company SR Green House Limited, which has allegedly duped thousands of investors in the two states.
CBI sleuths conducted a raid at 18 places in West Bengal and one in Balasore in Odisha. “The CBI has conducted raids at 19 places in Odisha and West Bengal in connection with the chit fund scam,” said a CBI official. The residences and the offices of the company’s managing director and director were also raided.
A total of 246 cases <g data-gr-id="13">have</g> been registered by the CBI against 128 companies. The agency has started a country-wide crackdown on fraudulent chit fund companies, which are duping lakhs of investors, following the Supreme Court order.
