Chinese woman dies after falling into escalator, but saves son

In a tragic accident, a Chinese woman was crushed to death after falling into an escalator at a shopping mall but the heroic mother managed to save her 2-year-old son by pushing him to safety.

Surveillance footage from the incident that happened on Sunday shows a metal panel at the top of the escalator giving way, causing the woman and her toddler to stumble.

The woman, identified by local media as Xiang <g data-gr-id="14">Liujuan</g>, 30, was able to push her child to safety as she fell in.

The incident in <g data-gr-id="15">Jingzhou</g>, in central China’s Hubei province, has sparked widespread anger, Wuhan Evening News reported.
