Chinese delegation meets Walia, discusses education

A Chinese delegation of Shangrao Municipal People’s Congress, led by its director Yao Xiping visited the office of Minister of Education, Social Welfare, WCD, Kiran Walia at Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday.
The six member delegation included the general secretary of Standing Committee, Xiao Yuegao, investigator, Agriculture and Rural Work Committee, Ye Daqing, director, Standing Committee of Xinzhou District People’s Congress, Fu Defeng, Director, Standing Committee of Poyang County People’s Congress, Chen Zifeng and Section Chief of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs at Shangrao City, Liao Chenyu.
From Delhi government, other than Walia, Diwan Chand, director, education, Amit Singla, secretary to minister, Deepak Virmani and senior officers of directorate of Education were present.
Both Walia and the head of the Chinese delegation, Yao Xiping exchanged their views on imparting education to the youth and tending them for achieving good employment.
The delegation wanted to know from Walia about the advanced experiences in developing the education in Delhi, the measurement to facilitate learning and thinking for all around personality development of child and understand the popularisation of compulsory education in India. Walia told them about the system of imparting education in Delhi government schools, their administration, cleanliness extending of facilities, extending of sports and extra curricular activities to the students for their personality development.
Walia also told the delegation that Shiela Dikshit has set goals to be achieved by the schools and students for achieving excellence in education.
With this view, a number of activities have been started in the schools, to give boost to the teachers and students prizes and trophies have been instituted at State, Zone and District level. State functions are organised to honour teachers at Teachers’Day, the birthday celebration of renowned educationists and the former President of India, Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and trophies to the schools and children at state, zone and district level at the function organised on the occasion of celebration of birthday of Iron Indira Gandhi on every 19 November yearly.
