China to be guest of honour country at book fair

China will be the guest of honour country at the New Delhi World Book Fair 2016 organised by National Book Trust, India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, government of India.
A memorandum of understanding to this effect was exchanged between MA Sikandar, director, National Book Trust, India and Cai Fuchao, chief administrator (vice-minister), State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) of the People’s Republic of China in the presence of the prime minister Narendra Modi, and Chinese president Xi Jinping at the Hyderabad House, New Delhi on Thursday.
The MoU, one of the significant 12 pacts reached between the two counties on the occasion of the visit of the Chinese president, seeks to ‘strengthen the cultural and publishing exchange and cooperation between India and China, and to enhance the traditional friendship between the two countries and peoples.’
It may be mentioned that India was Guest of Honour country at Beijing International Book Fair in 2010 with National Book Trust, India as the Nodal Agency of government of India.
