China calling: BJP leaders set out to broaden understanding

The eight days tour from 15-22 November will be led by Lok Sabha MP and former Uttarakhand CM Bhagat Singh Koshyari. ‘The objective of the tour is to understand the internal party structure, political functioning and its role in establishing a welfare society,’ party sources said.

The leaders were asked to emphasises on establishing and strengthening strong relations between the two ruling parties. The delegates are supposed to hire interpreter locally for better communication among the leaders.

Chinese President Xi Jingpin welcomes the initiative taken by Modi and assured all kind of assistance to the delegates visiting China from India.

Speaking to the delegates, Union External Affairs Minister (MEA) Sushma Swaraj said that the purpose of the visit is to support the ongoing efforts to remove the minor irritants in political, economic and geographical areas.

She asked the delegates to impress upon the Communist Party of China (CPC) leaders and the persons in government about the positive steps initiated by the Modi government in establishing cordial relations with all neighboring countries and particularly with China.

BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav said that this is a ‘good will’ visit at party to party level and aimed at building relations between two powerful countries in Asia. ‘I have also suggested the delegation to pave way stronger economic and cultural relations between the two countries,’ he said.

Already, MEA has briefed the delegation about government stance on various issues between the two governments to avoid any goof up. The study team will be visiting Guangzhou and Beijing cities to interact with CPC leaders and cadres from grass root level to politburo and Central Committee.
They will also visit the political school of CPC and attend meetings with Indian Consulate General at Guangzhou and Indian Ambassador at Beijing.

A detailed report will be presented to Modi and the party president Amit Shah after returning to Delhi. BJP Parliamentary Party Office Secretary Balasubrahmanyam Kamarsu will act as Secretary of the delegation.
