China: 43 killed in a day of deadly mishaps

At least 43 people were killed and 12 others injured in three separate accidents in China on Friday including a bus accident that claimed the lives of 33 people, officials said.
The accident happened this <g data-gr-id="17">afternoon,</g> when a bus carrying more than 40 people plunged 30 meters down into a ravine in Chunhua county of Xianyang city, said an official with the county’s publicity office.
While 25 passengers died on the spot, eight others who were severely injured died later despite medical treatment, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Pictures from the accident site showed an upside down crashed white bus in the forested ravine. In another <g data-gr-id="20">accident</g> four people were killed while 12 others were injured after a truck rammed into a crowd in southwest Yunnan province.
The dead and injured were attending a fair in the township of Houde this <g data-gr-id="19">morning,</g> when the truck lost control. In a separate case in Yunnan’s adjacent Sichuan province, two buses collided, killing six in the Tibetan-Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Aba.
Road accidents are <g data-gr-id="15">common place</g> in the communist nation where traffic rules are often not followed.
