Child dies in hospital, kin pins blame on doctor, nurse

The hospital authorities have, however, assured the victim’s family members that the matter would be looked into and action will be taken against those who will be found guilty.

The victim’s father Lalu Roy had brought his two year old baby who was complaining respiratory distress as there was cough in his chest. The baby was admitted to the hospital on June 13.

The incident spread tension in the hospital as the family members gathered in front of the children ward and pointed fingers at a doctor and a nurse against whom they had brought the charges of negligence.

Roy alleged that the on-duty nurse forgot to apply injection to the baby and later she administered the injection twice and as a result of this, the patient had died.

He also alleged that the doctor did not attend to the patient properly. He also said that when the family members asked the nurse about the incident she allegedly did not pay any heed to them. The nursing staff member however denied the allegation saying that no such incident had taken place.

The patient had died as he was brought in critical condition and his condition later deteriorated.
The family members of the victim have stated that they would take up the matter with the health department if the matter was not properly investigated by the hospital authorities.

Hospital officials said they were taking up the issue with utmost seriousness and an investigating team will be formed to look into the matter.
