Child crushed under DJB tanker wheels

A 10-year-old boy was crushed to death under a Delhi Jal Board tanker in east Delhi on Friday. The deceased was identified as Krishan, an only child.
The incident took place when the boy, along with his father, went to fill water from the tanker. The driver suddenly picked up speed and crushed the child, who was standing near a tyre. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The errant driver has been absconding. The police has seized the tanker and registered a case against the driver for negligent driving causing death. The deceased was a Class III student of a government school.
His father, Pashuram, is an employee of a private firm while his mother, Munni Bai, is a home maker. They are residents of Mayur Vihar area. ‘The body has been sent for post-mortem,’ said an official.
