Chief Secy chairs meeting on vehicular pollution

With an aim to put restrictions on entry of overloaded vehicles in Delhi-NCR, representatives of four states - Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan- on Wednesday discussed various steps to install weigh-in-motion systems on borders’ points to reduce vehicular pollution.

A <g data-gr-id="12">high level</g> meeting of the top officers of these states, chaired by Delhi Chief Secretary KK Sharma, was convened at Delhi Secretariat here on Wednesday.

The meeting aimed at implementing direction of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to reduce the vehicular pollution in Delhi/NCR as well as to restrict the entry of the overloaded vehicles in the national Capital at the entrance of Delhi itself particularly through installation of Weigh-in-Motion System (WIM). 

 The orders of the green court were discussed mainly to set up the WIM, bridges at the entry points of Delhi as well as other neighbouring states, especially in Haryana and UP in order to prevent overloaded, polluting and non-destined vehicles.
