Chhetri to be presented AIFF Player of Year today

Chhetri emerged winner through voting among all the club coaches of I-League.Seven awards will be presented to the winners ranging from administrators to supervisors and players.

Five among the seven swards have been instituted for the first time while one re-instituted after 2001. This will be the first-time the awards will be presented on a common platform.

The categories for new awards include the 2013 AIFF Award for the Best Assistant Referee; 2013 AIFF Award for the Best Referee; 2013 Award for the Best Emerging Player of the Year; Award for Best Grassroots Development Programme and Award for Continuous Contribution to Indian Football.

The recipients of the Awards are as follows:
2013 AIFF Award for Player of the Year: Sunil Chhetri.
2013 AIFF Award Best Woman Player of the Year: Oinam Bembem Devi
2013 AIFF Award for Emerging Player of the Year: Jeje Lalpekhlua
Award for Best Grassroots Development Programme: Mizoram Football Association.
Award for long-time contribution to Indian Football: Tata Football Academy.
2013 AIFF Award for the Best Referee: Pratap Singh
2013 AIFF Award for the Best Assistant Referee: Biplab Poddar.

Start preparing team for 2017 U-17 WC: Bhutia

NEW DELHI:
Bhaichung Bhutia said that the AIFF should start preparing for a quality team to play in the 2017 Under-17 World Cup. ‘The preparation for the 2017 U-17 World Cup should start soon. We need time to prepare a competent team and it will only come up if we start early,’ Bhutia said.
