Chhattisgarh gets plastic institute

Union Chemicals and Fertiliser Minister Ananth Kumar and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed Central Plastic Engineering and Technology Institute (CIPET) at Bhanpuri near here. The Institute has been built at a cost of Rs 51.32 crore, which has been shared by both the Centre and the state government. It is the 28th such institute in the country. 

The objective of the Centre is to develop technical and trained manpower for plastic processing and ancillary industries through various academic, technical and research programmes in Chhattisgarh and neighboring areas. It will also encourage entrepreneurs towards setting up plastic industries, quality control, technical consultancy apart from designing of moulds and dies, designing of plastic products and research in the field of plastic engineering and technology. 

Meanwhile, Kumar also laid the foundation stone for the CIPET at Surampalli village on the outskirts of Vijayawada on Friday. Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu were also present.
