Chehallum processions: Traffic jams likely today

The Walled City, Connaught Place and other major areas in the heart of the national capital may witness traffic congestion on Sunday throughout the day, said Delhi Traffic Police.

The jams are likely to follow the observance of Chehallum on Sunday. Processions are generally taken out in the morning and they reach Karbala in Jor Bagh by the evening on Chehallum. On Sunday, the Shia community is expected to take out processions around 9 am from the Imambara in Old Delhi’s Pahari Bhojla and head towards Karbala.

“General public and motorists are advised to avoid the above mentioned routes, cooperate and follow the directions of the traffic policemen posted all along the route of procession to avoid inconvenience,” said a senior official of Delhi Traffic Police in an advisory issued on Saturday.
