Cheat who posed as MHA official and conned people held

According to the police, the accused identified as Joy Shaw, have duped several people on the pretext of providing jobs at BHEL, CBI and Kendriya Vidyalaya. Police have recovered fake ID cards of CBI, MHA, letter heads of Reliance and various incriminating documents from his possession.
Senior police officers of the Crime Branch said that based on technical and local intelligence, police got to know that Shaw is hiding in a secret rented flat in Bhopal and was consequently arrested.
Police said that they received a complaint that a person identified as Joy Shaw has cheated Rs 85 lakh from a Delhi-based businessman on the pretext of awarding him work of various projects being floated by Reliance Industries, Essar Power and the Government of India.
In May 2015, the complainant, Bharat Gupta met Shaw through a broker at a hotel in Delhi where Shaw told Gupta that he can help him in getting some old factories which had been closed and are under Public-Private Partnership ie factories under partnership of Government of India with Reliance Industries and Essar Power (Mumbai).
Later, Shaw made a lasting impression on Gupta by calling Gupta to visit him in Bhubaneshwar and taking him in a car having red-beacon light and sticker of Ministry of Home Affairs pasted on it.
During this travel, Shaw discussed with Gupta about the projects related to Reliance Industries (Mumbai) with plant at Dhenkanal, Odisha and Essar Power Ltd, plant at Champa Chhattisgarh, for iron scrap business.
Joy Shaw met with the complainant in various 3-star and 5-star hotels of Delhi, Mumbai and in Bhubaneswar and professed about his high acquaintance with the heads of Reliance Industries and Essar Power.
According to the police, when cops verified from the MHA about Shaw, it was found that there is no IAS officer named Joy Shaw who holds the post of Assistant Director in MHA.
Based on the Aadhaar card which the accused presented at one of the hotels in Delhi, police found out that his real name is Mukesh. It was further verified from the office of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDIA).
