Chaos visits Yellow Line as Metro breaks down

Hundreds of Metro commuters in the national capital had a difficult time reaching their destination on Tuesday as trains on the busy Jahangirpuri-Huda City Centre line or Yellow Line were delayed during the morning rush hour due to breakdown of one of the trains.

Services remained disrupted for more than two hours after a train broke down Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan station at around 9.24 am. ‘An eight-Coach Metro train carry 1,791 passengers was stranded in mid-section between Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro Station, as the emergency brake which got applied did not get released.

The snag was reported at 9.24 am and the problem was rectified at 11 am.’ DMRC spokesperson said.

The passengers pushed open the emergency exit and came out on the track. This reportedly delayed the rescue operations as well as passage on the opposite track. ‘Passengers present in the snag-hit train pushed open the emergency door of the train on their own and came on to the track towards Central Secretariat without Authorisation.
