Chaos in CP: Man shoots waiter for refusing to eat his leftovers

A young man, reportedly inebriated, fired at a waiter at an eatery, when he refused to eat his leftovers, early on Sunday morning near Shivaji Stadium in Connaught Place. The victim, however, escaped unhurt. The accused, Rajesh, 27, a resident of west Delhi, who also runs a food stall near his house, had gone to Jain dhaba along with his two friends, Vishal and Sahil, around 6.30 am.

‘The friends got into an argument with the serving staff over the supposedly stale parathas that were served at the dhaba. But when the waiter, Monu, 24, refused to eat the parathas, Rajesh turned violent and fired twice at the waiter,’ said a police official.

According to the police, Rajesh ordered for three parathas. But after having a bite, they created a ruckus over the quality of the food.

‘Luckily, Monu escaped. His reflexes were fast and he dodged the bullet by bending down,’ said Dharampal, Jain dhaba’s manager.

The two friends of the accused fled the scene, but Rajesh was caught with the help of other waiters and was handed over to the police, added Dharampal.

He also said they have been permitted to run the eatery for 19 hours a day.

‘The accused, Rajesh, has been arrested. We have seized his car and his. 32 bore pistol along with two live cartridges. We are now tracing his friends,’ said the police official.
