Cracking down on corrupt activities of officials, Chhattisgarh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Economic Offences Wing (EOW) have unearthed illegal assets to the tune of Rs 282 crore belonging to babus and government employees in the past five years.
"To implement zero tolerance policy on corruption, the ACB had been strengthened and given more autonomy in the state. On the direction of the state government, the agency is carrying out an effective fight against corruption," Additional Director General of Police (ACB & EOW) Mukesh Gupta said. According to the ACB, 63 corrupt officials and employees have been booked in the past five years for having assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
During raids at the premises of these officials, illegal assets worth over Rs 282 crore were unearthed, it said.
Besides, during the period ACB caught at least 185 officials, including an IAS officer and employees, red-handed accepting bribe.
Bribe money to the tune of Rs 22 lakh were also recovered, the data said.
