In a fresh set of guidelines to monitor mid-day meal scheme in the country, the Union human resources development ministry has issued
directions to the state government to form a committee under the chairmanship of a member of
Parliament (MP) for its quarterly review.
‘A district-level vigilance and monitoring committee must be formed under the chairmanship of the senior most member of the parliament (MP) of the district with district magistrate as its member secretary. The committee must sit at least once in a quarter to review the implementation of the scheme in the district,’ said a circular issued on 22 July by Amarjeet Singh, additional secretary of MHRD.
It also directed all the states to set up District Task Force in each district for regular monitoring
of the scheme.
