Central Bank of India records Rs 4,09,041-crore quarterly total business

Gross non-performing assets (NPAs) for the second quarter and first half stood at Rs 11,563 crore on September 2013 from Rs 8,507 crore in Sept 2012 and Rs 10,529 crore in June 2013. NPAs including restructured ones for Q2 2013-14 stood at Rs 1,841 crore and provision coverage ratio for NPAs improved to 49.98 per cent (Rs 5,045 crore) for September 2013 from 39.86 per cent in September 2012.
‘The total number of restructured accounts were 24,083 - amounting to Rs 25,598 crore —of which NPA was 10,159 accounts with Rs 2,686 crore. As many as 11 restructured accounts had turned into NPAs,’ he said.
Agricultural advances increased by 21.79 per cent to Rs 22,746 crore in Q2 FY 2013-14 from Rs 18,677 crore in the same period last year, while MSE advances registered growth of 25.39 per cent to Rs 18,423 crore from Rs 14,692 crore in the corresponding period last year.
A total of 4,407 branches have been opened by the bank so far and its financial inclusion plan covers a total of 9,399 villages, he added.
