Central Bank of India Q3 profit rises 59%

Central Bank of India has registered a growth of 59.29 per cent in net profit for the third quarter of this fiscal (2012-13) to Rs 180 crore compared to Rs 113.24 for the same quarter of the previous financial year (2011-12).
The total income of the bank went up by 14.12 per cent to Rs 5818.81 crore for the third quarter compared to Rs 5098. 86 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011. The total interest income registered a growth of 15.18 per cent from Rs 4742 crore to Rs 5462 crore on a year-on-year basis. The net interest income of the bank registered a growth of 19.59 per cent from Rs 1,179 crore to Rs 1,410 crore compared to 2011-12. The non-interest Income of the bank has remained unchanged. It also registered a total restructure assets as on December 31, 2012 of Rs 22,182 crore compared to Rs 21,199 crore in the previous quarter (ended on September 2012).
Commenting on the third quarter results, Central Bank of India Chairman & Managing Director M V Tanksale said, ‘We have been operating in a very challenging operating environment.’
The total business for the bank in the quarter ended 31 December 2012, grew by 15.29 per cent y-o-y to stand at Rs 3,70695 crore.
