CBSE’s Perfect 10: Toppers bask in their glory after Class X results

Aryan Kumar’s mobile phone hasn’t stopped ringing, ever since Class X CBSE results were declared on Tuesday. Kumar, a student of Amity International School in Noida, scored a perfect 10 CGPA in his exams.

The result did not come as a surprise to him as he studied for approximately 5-6 hours a day during exams. ‘I knew I’d get good marks. Nothing in life comes without hard work. There are no short cuts in life. You have to work very hard to get whatever you want’, said Aryan, who sounded very mature for his age.

Though he hasn’t yet thought specifically about what he aims to do in life, he said that a career in corporate law interests him. ‘I have taken up Commerce for my plus two (Class XI and XII). However, I haven’t thought about my future yet. I might become a corporate lawyer in the future, though you never know’, he said.

Anupama Rajesh, his mother and a professor in Amity University, was ecstatic about her son’s performance. ‘I’m least interested in what he wants to study in future. I have told him to do best in whatever he chooses to do in his life, be it in sports, academics or any other profession’. She also added that this would relieve burden off the child. ‘They should be allowed choose their stream or profession. Parent’s interference must be limited. This way, the child will also not feel too much pressure’, his mother said.

Another student Nancy Gehlot from Pragati Public School in Dwarka, who also scored a perfect 10, credited her school’s systematic studying techniques. ‘In the end it is the school’s teaching method that matters. I would like to thank my teachers for these results. As much as it is my dedication towards studies, it is their hard-work as well. They believed in me from the very beginning’, said Nancy, who wants to become a software engineer.

Out of 13,27,250 students who appeared for class 10th examination this year, 76,900 scored perfect 10, while 1,373 scored CGPA of 4.0.

Meanwhile, the Class 10 examination results under the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) will be declared on Wednesday.

‘The results will be published at 3 p.m.,’ an official statement from the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination said Tuesday. The ICSE is a non-governmental board of school education.
