The Central Board of Secondary Education under it's new modified syllabus has introduced a choice of programming language in the Computer Science syllabus for grades XI (for the 2013-14 academic year) and XII (for the 2014-15 academic year).
A CBSE senior official said 'CBSE has already posted the new Computer Science syllabus on its website and for its 2013-14 session, introduced Python in class XI instead of C++ (programming languages).
As per the feedback received from teachers and keeping their comfort level in mind, the Board has decided that schools may continue to teach C++ in grade XI for session 2013-14 or they may choose Python instead of C++, depending on the students’ comfort.’ The official said that this change is, however, not for the current batch of class XII students for the session 2013-14.
