CBI raids BSNL general manager’s residence, office

Sources claimed that the CBI has conducted raids after complaints of irregularities in tendering process resulting in scam of several crores in the department came to light. Meanwhile, the CBI officials in Delhi have denied any such operation.

As per the report, a CBI team conducted raids at Gupta’s house in Sector 39 as well as BSNL office in Sector 19. Sources claimed that during the raid, officials took hard disks of computers, scanned files and checked tender related documents.

They are also reported to have seized files from the manager’s office. During the raid at his residence, Gupta was ousted from the house and search was conducted ensuring that no family member was a witness to it. Although the officials in Delhi were tight-lipped about this, sources confirmed that raids were conducted by a Delhi team. The BSNL officials, however, preferred not to react on the whole incident.

It may be noted that Noida was in the limelight for IT’s raids at Yadav Singh’s residences and offices a few weeks ago.

The department, during its raids, had unearthed hundreds of crores of unaccounted money. It has also been revealed that money was minted through illegal tender allotments and other sources. The authorities have also suspected foul play in tenders allotted by the general manager.
