CBI framed me as I refused to depose against A Raja: Chandolia

Former telecom minister A Raja’s erstwhile private secretary R K Chandolia on Monday told a Delhi court that CBI had implicated him in the 2G spectrum allocation case as he refused to depose against the minister.
Chandolia, who is deposing as a witness to defend himself in the ongoing 2G spectrum allocation case trial, also alleged that during the investigation, CBI had told him that he should become a witness and give statement against Raja.
‘I was told (by CBI) that I should become a witness and give statement against A Raja that I had instructed A K Srivastava (the then DoT official) for setting up of four counters for distribution of LoIs (letters of intent), for allotment of spectrum to Swan Telecom in Delhi circle and initiation of a note for stopping receiving of applications in September 2007.
‘I did not agree to tell lie and I was told that if I would not speak, some other officer would speak. I could not imagine that without any role of myself of any kind and any noting on the files by me, I could be implicated in the case,’ Chandolia told Special CBI Judge O P Saini.
He told the court that his house was searched on 8 December, 2010, and he was called for interrogation on the subsequent dates in the CBI office.
‘CBI used oral instructions route to take statements of A K Srivastava, Aseervatham Achary and R P Aggarwal, to implicate me in the case,’ he said.
