The CBI on Friday has filed a chargesheet against former union minister Matang Sinh and a co-accused Shib Narayan Das in connection with the Saradha chit-fund scam. It was Das, who had convinced Saradha founder Sudipta Sen to run chit fund schemes. Speaking to the mediapersons in Kolkata, CBI lawyer Partha Sarthi Dutta said, “A charge-sheet was submitted against Das, Matang Sinh and his four companies including Northeast Multimedia Private Ltd., Positive Radio, Unit Network Television, Impulsive Production Limited. We filed this application before the court and cognizance has duly taken by the court. Huge amount is involved in this case and criminal conspiracies are there.”
On February 1, Sinh arrested by CBI’s SIT on the charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating and misappropriation of funds related to Saradha Realty. On December 23 last year, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had reportedly attached a flat belonging to Sinh in Versova, Mumbai, and an entire building in Guwahati. Soon after Sinh’s arrest, Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami had to resign for allegedly trying to stall his arrest.
