CBI fails to produce evidence to back raid

A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Wednesday pulled up the investigating agency for its failure to present credible evidences to prove allegations of corruption against Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar and back the raid it undertook on the Delhi Secretariat on December.

“CBI could not present any credible evidence or illegal entry in any of the accounts. The agency so far has been unable to establish the nexus of Rajendra Kumar with Endeavour, the alleged company,” said a senior Delhi government officer. “CBI, being the premier investigating agency, is expected to follow the mandate of law. In the present case, it has flouted it with impunity,” observed the court.

The agency, in its reply submitted to the court, could not point out wrongful loss caused to the government exchequer. “From seized bank accounts on December 18 till now.

CBI has been unable to point even a single bank entry of wrong payments,” said the officer, quoting the observations of the special CBI court.

The court also directed de-freezing of accounts of the Endeavour group, claimed the officer.
