A city court on Tuesday directed CBI to assign an investigating officer to meet suspended TMC MP Kunal Ghosh in the presence of his counsel in the Presidency Correctional Home in connection with the probe into the Saradha chit fund scam.
Metropolitan Magistrate of Bankshall Court Arvind Mishra issued the order after Ghosh in his petition requested the court to direct the agency to send an officer of the stature of Joint Director or DIG to talk to him in connection with its probe into the matter.
CBI had interrogated Ghosh in December, last year.
The court also directed CBI to file a report on the proceedings of its investigation into the Saradha scam.
The order was issued after the CBI counsel failed to state for certain when the agency would be able to file its final charge sheet. Meanwhile, the court remanded Ghosh to judicial custody till December 29.
The principal accused in the Saradha scam, Sudipta Sen, chairman of the Saradha Group, and his close associate Debjani Mukherjee were also remanded to judicial custody till December 29.
