CBI court rejects Talwars’ plea for adjournment

A CBI court on Wednesday rejected the application of Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, accused of killing their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, for adjournment of recording their statement.

Special judge S Lal stated that after completion of the testimonies of the prosecution evidences, trial should be initiated on a day-to-day basis. Justice Lal rejected the Talwars' application for adjournment and summoned them to record their statement on 30 May.

In its seven-page order rejecting the Talwars' plea to summon 13 CBI officials as witnesses, the court observed that the prosecution had produced reliable witnesses.

The CBI opposed their application for the adjournment saying that the Talwars were using 'delaying tactics' and that their request should be rejected.

Aarushi(14), was found murdered at her parents' Noida residence on 16 May, 2008. The body of their servant Hemraj was found the next day on the terrace of the house.
