Cash, jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh robbed from property dealer’s house

An elderly woman and her servant were tied up and thrashed by armed assailants, who laster robbed her house.
The assailants allegedly robbed jewellery and cash worth Rs 40-50 lakh on Tuesday afternoon in south-east Delhi’s Kalkaji area.
According to police, at around 4 pm, four masked men entered the house of a property dealer in G-block of Kalkaji area. At the time of the incident, Bina (62) was sleeping in her room.
In the meantime, Bhagwan Das, the servant answered the door call. He told police that the moment he opened the door, one of the accused pushed him inside and at over powered him. He was later tied up with rope.
Bina woke up on hearing the noise. When she spotted the robber, she tried to raise an alarm, but the robbers beat her up and tied her too.
She informed the police that the assailants remained inside the house for half an hour and made away with jewellery and cash worth Rs 40-50 lakhs. After they escaped, she called her son, Rahul who works in Punjabi Bagh area. He further informed police about the incident. According to their statements, a case under the relevant sections of IPC has been registered at Kalkaji police station.
‘The CCTV footages of the cameras installed in the locality are being looked at to establish the identity of the four accused who are yet to be arrested’, said an investigating officer. He added that the sevant has not been given clean chit yet.
