Cash collection agents robbed of Rs 15 lakh

Two agents of a Delhi-based cash collection firm were on Tuesday robbed of around Rs 15 lakh at gunpoint in Patel Nagar area here. The agents, who used to collect cash from their clients and deposit it in respective bank accounts, were at work when the incident took place around 1 pm on Tuesday, police said. The collection agents, Harrender of Meerut and Shyam Singh of Mohannagar, told police that when they were going to a client on a motorbike, two unidentified persons who were standing on the road asked them to stop. ‘As they stopped the motorbike, one of assailants held a gun and asked them to hand over the money... When they refused, the assailants snatched a bag containing the cash and fled on a bike, which the third accomplice was waiting with,’ a senior officer said.
