After a Kanpur-based man filed a complaint with Delhi Police that his newly purchased shoes were stolen from outside south-east’s Delhi’s famous Kalkaji temple, Delhi Police have now detained two persons in connection to the theft that took place on Sunday morning.
Anshul Gupta, who came from Kanpur to Delhi with his family to visit his relatives, visited the Kalkaji temple on Sunday with his wife and son. According to Gupta, before entering the temple premises he deposited his shoes along with those of his family members at a shoe counter outside the temple. He specially instructed the attendant to keep a vigil on his shoes as they were new. The family members went inside and returned after half-an-hour.
When they went to the shoe counter and gave the token to take back the footwears, the attendant returned with only two pairs of shoes. When Gupta asked to return his shoes as well, the attendant informed him that the pair was missing.
Despite searching for an hour, the attendant could not find the missing pair.
Gupta then made a call to the Police Control Room who reached the spot and took him to the police station as he said that he wanted to file a complaint for his stolen shoes.
A case was registered at Kalkaji police station and a team desperately looked to identify the culprits.
A source said, the police have detained two persons in connection with the case. Further investigation is underway, police said.
