It’s the apathy of the system that one has to “always” approach a person at the top to get things resolved at the ground level. The case relates to a Delhi University student Naveen Goyal, who sought the help of Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar for the refund of double payment made by him while seeking admission in a prominent college of the University.
It’s only after the intervention of the HRD Minister that prompt action was taken and Venkateswara College refunded the amount, which was debited twice from Goyal’s account as payment to the college during admission.
When he took up the issue with his bank, he was informed that since both the payment orders were successful from their end, they are not authorised to cancel any successful orders.
The bank advised him to approach the college for refund of the amount. Failing to get the issue resolved, he flagged the issue to the HRD Minister through an email, who immediately intervened and asked the concerned official to look into the matter. Goyal’s issue was immediately resolved and his account is all set to be credited with the refund amount in the next seven days.
In a thanks email, Goyal wrote to the minister: “Thank you very much for your prompt action. Today, I got a call from Delhi University as well as from the DGM, IDBI Bank with regard to refund of double payment. They have also assured that regarding this problem they will put up a note on the DU admission portal, so other parents will also not suffer or take corrective measures in this regard. Thank you once again for your action.”
