A case has been registered against noted Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen for her twitter comment dubbing fatwa-issuing Muslim clerics as ‘criminals’.
A FIR was lodged under section 195 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 66 IT act on the complaint of Maulana Hasan Raza Khan ‘Noori Miyan’, son Maulana Subhan Raza Khan, the head of Raza force at Kotwali in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh late Wednesday night.
In her tweet on 6 November, Taslima Nasreen had commented that in India the criminals who issue fatwas against women were not arrested. The complaint said that a case should be registered against the writer as her comments had hurt the sentiments of Muslims. It also demanded her arrest and seizure of her passport.
