An artist is a person who is both a visionary and a recorder of history. Their works not only represent the outward appearance of things, but also the inner significance. They bind us to our heritage and keep the adage tales alive for generations to cherish.

In order to encourage the spirit of art in today’s age of digitalisation 1000words.in, an online art e-commerce site, hosted Vignettes of India, an art exhibition which collaborated the works of fourteen blooming artists from India and abroad. 

The exhibition was inaugurated by Vijay Goel, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, on Friday at Shridharani Art Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam.

The major highlights of the art exhibition were the glimpses of India’s daily life and cultural aspects brought together by the artists of different origins. For some artist, the show was their debut performance in the art circle.

 “I hail from a small village in Maharashtra and people there are not familiar with contemporary art and find my work absurd. Being the hub of art lovers, I find more opportunities in Delhi as I can relate more to the people who can understand my work”, said Satish Gharage, sculptor from Kholapur, Mahatrashtrra.

The exhibition not only offered affordable artworks to art aficionados but also proved to be a promising platform for upcoming contemporary artists who are slowly carving a niche for themselves in the art world.

Speaking at the inauguration, Vijay Goel highlighted the importance of promoting art and culture. 

“Vignettes of India by 1000words.in is a very interesting exhibition, where each artist has viewed India through a different prism. I am happy to see foreign artists also participating in a show like this, depicting their understanding of India,” said Goel.
