Four people died and four others were severely injured after a speeding canter collided with stationary truck which was standing in the middle of Greater Noida expressway, on Monday night.
According to the police, all the victims were in the milk canter which was coming from Agra side when the driver lost control and rammed it into the truck.
Police said the accident took place on the expressway near Panchsheel Balak Inter College at around 11.30 pm. ‘The canter, driven by Sanjay left the milk dairy from Agra Monday evening. While they were on their way to Delhi, Ramkesh (40) along with his wife Niruma (35) and their three daughters Vanshika (6), Bhawana (8) and Baby (6 months) took lift for Sangam Vihar in Delhi. Another passenger Roop Singh (42) also boarded the canter,’ said a senior police officer.
Eyewitness claims that a truck loaded with potato broke down on the expressway. ‘The milk canter was at a high speed so he failed to notice the stationary truck and hit it from behind’, said an eyewitness.
All the victims were rushed to nearby hospital where four people were declared dead. Deceased were identified as Ram Kesh, Baby, Sanjay and Roop Singh. Ramesh and Baby are father and daughter while Sanjay was driver of the milk canter.
