He also said that he has almost completed the exercise of fact collection, surveys and feedbacks from party workers.
The party is now holding discussions for each assembly constituency, the outcome of which will be presented in the meeting of central parliamentary board on 31 October to finalise the first list of 40-50 candidates.
‘The main objective of this exercise is to increase the number of seats in BJP’s fold. We will give highest priority to electability of the candidate and no compromise will be made on this ground,’ Gadkari told Millennium Post. ‘The rest 25 per cent marks will include candidate’s behaviour with workers, political back-up and support,’ added Gadkari.
He added that the distribution of tickets will be completely impartial and fair. On demand of tickets from sons of some veteran leaders he said, ‘Being the son or relative of any persons is neither a ground for qualification nor disqualification. Only deserving candidates will be given the tickets and electability is the sole criterion.’ In the exclusive interaction at his residence with Millennium Post, Gadkari revealed an ‘unusual’ aspect of politicians. ‘We conducted over half a dozen surveys and found that the elective merit of some very dedicated and loyal party workers is low in comparison to who are considered superficial politicians among cadres,’ he said.
Delayed decision on Harsh Vardhan
Gadkari, who is considered the brain behind all the political decisions in Delhi, maintained that in this age of hi-tech communication gadgets the news reaches within minutes to voters. Now, everybody knows that Harsh Vardhan is BJP’s chief ministerial candidate. He is well known in the city, the best ever health minister of a state in the country, a global personality, honest, dedicated, workaholic and performer. ‘We are united and committed to oust the Congress government and free Delhiites from its 15 years misrule,’ he added.
Modi factor
Gadkari said party will benefit in the assembly polls as people find in Narendra Modi an efficient administrator and visionary leader. The voters will prefer him over indecisiveness, wrong policies and widespread corruption practiced by Congress governments in Delhi and at the centre. Congress wants to exploit Muslim vote bank by creating fear, which intelligent Muslims understand well, he said.
Why BJP
Congress lost an opportunity of 15 years to plan development of Delhi, said Gadkari. They boast of Delhi Metro and flyovers which are the brainchildren of BJP. They could not present solutions for mushrooming slums, unauthorised colonies, dirty Yamuna, electricity, health and education. Aam Aadmi Party as I have said is Congress’ B team.
We are working on our 'Vision Document' for a planned development of Delhi which includes in-situ development of slums by construing multi-storey residential cum commercial complexes on Public Private Parternership (PPP) model, proper utilisation of solar power and setting up new thermal electricity production plants, dams for electricity, e-governance, road map for clean Yamuna, barrages and dams on Yamuna to use rain water, recycling water plants, sewage treatment plants, better health, better education, better employment, professional training, round the clock power and water supply, controlling price rise by constituting Food Price Commission and reducing power tariff. We will present an ecological and environmental model of development for the national capital city in our 'Delhi Election Manifesto' to make it an international city of the world like Singapore and Paris said Gadkari.
