Cancer stifles sound of music

Music director Aadesh Shrivastava, who was suffering from cancer, passed away in Mumbai on Saturday at 12:30 am. Aadesh was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital 42 days back.
This was the third time his cancer had relapsed and he was going through severe treatment. Though his health showed signs of improvement a couple of weeks back, he was in a critical condition since a few days. He passed away just a day after he turned 49.
Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan visited him at the hospital. Producer Ramesh Taurani, Shekhar Kapur, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy, Poonam Dhillon, Anu Mallik, Jaspinder Narula and Abhijeet had also visited the singer this week. The singer-composer, over the course of his impressive career, has composed music for over 100 Hindi films.
A host of Bollywood personalities including Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Anees Bazmee, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan and others paid their last respects to the music director at Oshiwara crematorium on Saturday. Rajiv Kapoor, Pahlaj Nihlani, Shekar Kapoor, Kunal Ganjawala, Pandit Jasraj, Ismail Darbar, Sajid-Wajid, Alka Yagnik too attended the last rites. Aadesh Shrivastava’s entire family was inconsolable during the funeral. His wife <g data-gr-id="25">Vijayta</g> broke down while the last rites were being performed.
Shrivastava was being treated at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for over 40 days. Shrivastava rose to fame with his compositions for films like “Chalte Chalte”, “Baabul”, “Baghban”, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” and “Raajneeti”.
He is survived by wife Vijeta Pandit, a former Bollywood actress and sister of music-composer duo Jatin- Lalit, and two sons – <g data-gr-id="28">Anivesh</g> and Avitesh.
