The name of the unnamed political party of activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal is most likely to be Aam Aadmi Party. The name of the party will be officially announced on Monday in the national capital by Kejriwal and other members of his unnamed party.
Sources said most of the suggestions they got on the proposed name of the party was ‘Aam Aadmi Party’, though many also wanted the word ‘Swaraj’ to be part of the name. They also said that it will not have any president or general secretary posts.
Kejriwal, once the right-hand man of anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare, parted ways with his former colleague on the issue of taking political route for bringing Jan Lokpal Bill and fighting corruption.
Kejriwal’s group, which has some prominent faces of the former Team Anna like Prashant Bhushan, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Kumar Vishwas, Gopal Rai and others, has been using the name ‘India Against Corruption’ since partying ways with Hazare.
Recently, Hazare and his new team claimed rights on the name IAC and Kejriwal had said he would stop using the name after formally announcing the name of his political party on 26 November.
A prominent lawyer involved in social causes, who is all set to join Kejriwal’s political party on Monday, told Millennium Post, ‘In all likelihood and in my understanding, the name of the proposed political party is going to be Aam Aadmi Party.’
