Businessman stabbed to death in central Delhi

A 50-year-old cable operator was found brutally murdered at his New Rajendra Nagar residence on Wednesday evening. The police said the incident was reported from the F block in New Rajender Nagar, a stone’s throw away from the local police station and barely four kilometres away from the Parliament, at around 6 pm.

The police identified the victim as Tarun Bajaj, a cable operator of ‘adequate influence’. He was discovered in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on his body, when his wife returned home from work in the evening. Bajaj’s wife found him lying in a pool of blood after she unlocked the door with her keys. She then informed the local police. She is employed as a lawyer with the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructural Development Corporation (DSIIDC). The couple did not have any children.

‘Prima facie, it seems that the murder was committed by someone known to the family as there are no signs of forced entry or exit. The accused made a friendly entry. The family denied Bajaj’s had any animosity with anyone,’ said an investigating officer. ‘There are deep wounds inflicted on his body with a sharp weapon. While it could be a murder committed solely to eliminate the victim, we are examining all possibilities in the case. We have sent the deceased body for post-mortem examination, the reports are awaited,’ said the police official.
