Businessman, employee shot at by robbers

In yet another case of robbery, armed assailants in broad daylight looted Rs 8 lakh from the owner of a private firm and shot at him and his cashier when they resisted the robbery attempt on Wednesday. Ironically the incident was reported 200 metres away from a police post in Sector 5, Noida. Both victims are in critical condition and have been put on  ventilators.

An employee of the company said, ‘Bhatt and Kumar suffered bullet injuries in chest, abdomen and leg and were lying in the pool of blood for nearly half an hour as no policeman reached the spot. They were rushed to a nearby hospital by the employees of the company.’

According to Shivram Yadav, CO 1st, Noida police,  ‘UD Bhatt (52) and his cashier, Pradeep Kumar (50) were approaching their office, Creation Export Limited, after withdrawing Rs 8 lakh from Union Bank of India in sector 9, at around 1 pm. When they reached near their office, two bike-borne assailants attacked them and started thrashing them with canes. When the victims resisted, the robbers fired bullets at them and snatched the money before fleeing the spot.’

A senior police official informed that a case has been registered under various sections of IPC and investigations into the shooting is on.
