West Bengal plastic industry all set to accelerate its growth rate exponentially

Kolkata: With a per capita consumption that is a mere 5 kg per annum as against 12 kg and growing at 15% nationally every year, the plastic industry in West Bengal is putting up rapid growth to catch up with the national average.
The plastic industry is adapting to latest technologies in manufacturing. This is evident from a large contingent of West Bengal based businesses participating in PLASTINDIA 2018, the 10th edition of international plastics exhibition, conference and convention to be held at Gandhinagar, Gujarat in February 2018. Speaking to many industrialists from West Bengal, it is evident that the Plastics industry is looking at PLASTINDIA 2018 with a focus on adopting modern project machines, ancillary equipment and raw materials. The enthusiasm also comes from the fact that West Bengal state government initiating a slew of infrastructural reforms and on an overdrive to attract investments into the state. K K Seksaria, President, Plastindia Foundation mentions, said, "New petrochemical plant of Brahmaputra Crackers & Polymers Ltd (BCPL) in Assam and upcoming Polypropylene plant of Indian Oil at Paradip, Orissa will increase raw material supply substantially in eastern India and encourage growth of plastics industries in West Bengal and eastern India."
