Sun outage to disrupt VSAT services till March 18

Leading bourse BSE on Wednesday informed the market participants that there would be disruption in VSAT services due to sun outage till March 18.

Sun outage periods, with a duration of 15 days, generally occur twice every year when there is interruption in geostationary satellite signals caused by interference from solar radiation.

According to a BSE circular, the disruptions would be till March 18.

"Market Participants using BSE VSAT connectivity are hereby informed that due to heavy solar activity, the VSAT services are likely to be disrupted for up to 17 minutes in a 27 minute (12.33 hrs to 13.00 hrs) window," BSE said.

VSATs (Very Small Aperture Terminals) are two-way satellite ground stations and access satellites in to relay data from small remote earth stations to other terminals or master earth station hubs.
