Ludhiana: A massive fire broke out at the 66KV Substation, Tajpur Road, on Wednesday, causing extensive damage to two power transformers of 31.5 MVA capacity each.

Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) Director Distribution, Er. DPS Grewal, visited the site this morning to oversee restoration efforts and directed the staff to expedite the restoration process.

The fire, which originated at the LV Side Bush of one transformer, spread to the second transformer, resulting in a total loss about Rs 7 crore. Firefighters worked tirelessly until 3 AM to control the blaze, after which restoration work commenced. The incident disrupted electricity supply to approximately 15,000 households connected via six 11KV feeders and affected about 1,000 industrial units supplied through 15 industrial feeders.
