IndiGo inaugurates its first flight to Hanoi
Kolkata: Consolidating its position as the leading Indian carrier, IndiGo, on Thursday commenced operations to - the land of natural landscapes, ancient history and vibrant culture - Vietnam. The airline inaugurated the first direct flight on Kolkata-Hanoi route, making Hanoi IndiGo's 19th international and 75th overall destination. Vietnam is the 5th Southeast Asian country in the 6E network after successful operations to Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and its recent flights to Myanmar.
William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo said, "We are delighted to commence our operations to Hanoi on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja. This inaugural flight is a step towards Government's "Act East" vision and we will continue to expand in the east as part of our international strategy. Our connections to Vietnam will not only enable increased tourist footfall in both the countries but also connect the Buddhist community in Vietnam with important religious cities in India, Myanmar and China through Kolkata.
