India’s tablet PC mkt up 2% YoY, with Samsung leading the chart, Apple supplies drop 2%

New Delhi: India tablet PC market grew by 2 per cent year-on-year in 2025 with Samsung leading the supplies in the segment while Apple and Acer recording dip in shipments, a Counterpoint Research report said on Thursday.

Counterpoint Research, principal analyst, Anshika Jain, said that India’s tablet market saw a clear shift towards premiumisation, driven by strategic product refreshes across key brands.

“The Rs 30,000-Rs 40,000 price band emerged as the fastest-growing segment, with shipments rising nearly 7 times, reflecting increasing consumer preference for higher-performance devices,” Jain said.

Samsung’s tablet PC supplies in India market grew by 15 per cent year-over-year which led to the company clocking 31 per cent market share in 2025 compared to 27 per cent it registered in 2024.

“Samsung retained its market leadership in 2025, anchored by the Galaxy Tab A9 series across the first three quarters before transitioning to the successor A11 series in Q4 2025, reinforcing its stronghold in the Rs 15,000-Rs 30,000 segment while sustaining its premium presence through the Galaxy Tab S portfolio,” the report said.

Apple followed Samsung with 20 per cent share in 2025 despite a decline of 2 per cent on YoY basis.

“Apple ranked second, with the iPad (2025) 128GB Wi-Fi variant emerging as a key driver in the Rs 30,000-Rs 40,000 band, significantly influencing the market’s premium mix in H2 2025. The iPad Pro series further accelerated OLED penetration, strengthening Apple’s positioning in the high-performance segment,” the report said.

Lenovo clocked 15 per cent market share with 24 per cent growth in supplies, Xiaomi 11 per cent with 74 per cent jump in shipments while Acer supplies declined by 50 per cent leading to market share plummeting to 10 per cent in 2025 from 21 per cent in 2024. 2025 also marked a turning point for India’s tablet manufacturing landscape, the report said.

“Exports crossed one million units from negligible levels in prior years, led by Samsung and Lenovo, with shipments directed toward the US and key European markets. At the same time, domestic production accounted for 50 per cent of annual shipments reflecting accelerated localization. This dual momentum positions India not just as a growing consumption market, but increasingly as a strategic manufacturing base within the global tablet supply chain,” it said.

Counterpoint expects that the Indian tablet market is expected to see robust growth in 2026, supported by the strong momentum witnessed in the fourth quarter of 2025.

“While memory pricing will remain, a dynamic factor influencing device costs and margins, sustained demand for higher configurations and productivity-oriented devices is likely to support value growth. The export market will be particularly important to look out for in 2026, as increasing localization and supply chain diversification position India as a growing manufacturing hub beyond domestic demand,” the report said.

According to the market research firm, the evolution of AI-enabled tablets and on-device AI features is expected to gradually enhance user experiences, laying the foundation for the next phase of market

expansion.
