IGL to supply CNG and PNG in Fatehpur, Hamirpur, Kanpur

Kanpur: Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the largest CNG distribution company of the country has received Letter of Intent (LOI) from Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) just a few days back after 10th round of bidding to lay City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in the geographical area comprising districts of Fatehpur, Hamirpur and Kanpur (except area already authorized) in Uttar Pradesh.

The project will be aimed at providing supply of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in these districts and it is expected that the first CNG station and piped gas connection would be made available within a year.

Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Member of Parliament from Fatehpur announced the same in a function held today in Kanpur. Satyadev Pachauri, Minister for Khadi, Village Industries, Sericulture, Textile, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and Export Promotion, Government of Uttar Pradesh and MLA from Govind Nagar presided over the function, which was also attended by Vikram Singh, MLA Fatehpur Sadar and Vikas Gupta, MLA, Ayasa Shah (Fatehpur), E S Ranganathan, Managing Director, IGL, Rajiv Sikka, Director (Commercial), IGL along with senior officials from district administration and mediapersons.

Addressing the gathering, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti announced that the convenience of CNG and PNG, which was till date available only in bigger cities, will now be available in small cities also.

She promised all the support to IGL in execution of the project and called upon IGL to complete the project in a short time at the earliest so that the facility of piped gas can soon be made available to the residents of the region, who have been having difficulties in booking cylinders for every refill. She also announced that CNG would shortly be made available in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Satyadev Pachauri lauded the efforts of the central government in bringing facilities to the vast population of the country.

He expressed confidence that an efficient company like IGL will be able to roll out the project with speed and ensuring safety in the process.
