Gujarat Gas plans mega-drive to energise nation's tribal regions

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Gas Limited has decided to undertake a huge drive to supply gas to tribal regions all over country, beginning with Gujarat itself as the launch case.
Government of Gujarat has embarked on an aggressive expansion plan to extend City Gas Distribution network to every possible district of the State. Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL), which believe in inpromoting theuse of clean, green and efficient fuel for the small and medium enterprises (SMEs),and most importantly to residential and automobile sectors, now expanding its reach in theUnion Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Thane geographical area (excluding already authorised area)which includes Palghar district of Maharashtra.
GGL is committed to reach out to every possible natural gas user in its expanded geographical area.
The size and scale of the combined entity gives it the ability to achieve efficiencies and effectively manage the transformational changes in the sector.
GGL has the largest City Gas Distribution network of over 20,000 km covering more than 96,000 square kilometre of licensed area. It serves more than 11.60 lakh households and supplies CNG to over 5,50,000 vehicles in the state.
The company serves the entire range of retail end of the gas value chain – Residential, Transport, Industrial and Commercial consumers.
Its 252 operational CNG stations network constitutes over 21%* of all CNG stations in the country. As on March 2017, the total gas volume sold was 6 MMSCMD.
The role of GGL is envisioned to be complementary to Gujarat State Petronet Ltd. (GSPL). GSPL is continuously expanding its pipeline network currently in Gujarat to reach the demand centres by laying gas pipeline network.
At every location where the GSPL network ends, the Gujarat Gas retail network starts. This has resulted in a strong synergy in network management besides ensuring that Gas is adequately available to all retail segments in Gujarat.
Today, GGL with its pioneered model of flexi-sourcing of gas from diverse suppliershas not only maintained uninterrupted but also adequate supplies; thus ensuring supply security for the company's customers.
In pursuit of making natural gas the safe and preferred energy solution, GGL's network has been geared with the one of the best safety technology following global standards.
GGL was awarded the coveted 'Golden Peacock Occupational Health and Safety Award 2016' for its exemplary performance and excellence in maintaining high standards of safety in Gas Sector.
At present, GGL is supplying PNG to more than 12000 Commercial and Non Commercial premises across the state.
