Centre has bid for 10,000 electric sedans to promote green energy

New Delhi: The government has bid out 10,000 electric sedan cars to push 'green energy' which will help to control the pollution, the Union Power Minister RK Singh claimed on Monday.
This will also help to reduce the import of fossil fuel and will promote the domestic energy production, the minister added.
Singh said, "By the next week you will see five such cars outside the ministry's office." Meanwhile, the ministry has also asked other government offices to use these electric cars.
However, the charging stations are yet to be set up or the specific corridors are yet to be identified by the ministry. "We are in talks with the DISCOMs and auto-mobile companies. We will also regulate policies for setting up such charging stations," the minister added further. The government offices will also have charging stations.
The metropolitan cities and towns are in the prior preference as to strengthen the market, a ministry source said. Centre will also communicate with the state power ministers to take part in this move.
The registered DISCOMs will have to abide by strong policies for setting up charging stations. It will have two aspects, legal and guidelines for a fixed tariff. "There will be one legal aspect and couple of guidelines will be given to the DISCOMs for fixing the tariff, which will make sure that there will not be any cross-subsidy charge," the minister mentioned.
Adding further, Singh claimed that there will be a fixed regulator in every charging stations and this will be very cost effective.
The government also wants to achieve all-electric car fleet by 2030.
